Mountains *Presidential Address to the Bristol Medico-Chirurgical Society, Wednesday, 14th October, 1959.

I am a general practitioner in a rural practice. Perhaps the peace and quiet of the Untry tend to make one think more slowly and one is less likely to impute ulterior otives. When I was asked to become a member of the Med-Chi Committee, I ?ught no farther than that they perhaps wanted an elderly practitioner to represent part of Somerset that lies on the southern boundary of Bristol. When I was later ed if I was willing to be elected President of this honourable and learned Society,
